ChiliPad works by having water flow from its control unit into the soft in-bed coils. The water runs or heats depending on the temperature setting of the cube. The temperature of the bed is also affected by the ambient temperature, so if the room temperature is too hot, the cube could be set to its maximum coolness. The bed temperature then affects the core body temperature of the sleeper, so s/he gets rejuvenating sleep.
It must be noted as well that each zone of the mattress pad has a 500-pound capacity, so what Lasseter and his partner are doing is really a good idea. Moreover, ChiliPad does not emit harmful extremely low electromagnetic field (ELF), so it is safe for even babies, children, pets, pregnant women, and elderly individuals.
