This app is unique to the market as it provides an all-in-one experience for the user, allowing them to access information about common sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), choose a testing plan, and quickly find local std testing centers and receive results within 48 hours.
JACO App Lab's spokesperson, Nathan Jacobs, says that the goal of this app is to provide completely anonymous std testing for everyone, as he states that one of the common reasons people refuse to get tested and seek treatment is the fear or embarrassment that going to a family doctor can bring.
To diffuse this fear, he states that the testing procedure through this app is 100% confidential and is never linked to health records of the user. The app developing company linked up with an FDA-approved third-party private testing service to develop this unique technology that makes ordering an STD test from a smartphone as simple as downloading an app.
The company's research states that over 65 million Americans have an incurable STD, and every passing year, 20 million new cases are reported; half of these infections are among people ages 15 to 24 and they can have long-term consequences. This is why JACO App Labs recommends not waiting to get tested so the symptoms can be treated as early as possible.
This std app features a "Find a Lab" option that allows users to search a database of over 4,000 testing locations to find the nearest ones. Next, the user has the ability to order a test straight off of their smartphone or tablet, which leaves the last step of the process simply to walk in to the testing center and provide any needed samples. Results can be expected within 24-48 hours.
Currently, the app is only available on the Google Play store for Android users, but the company states that they are in the process of developing an iOS version soon.
