(Health-NewsWire.Net, May 02, 2015 ) Titusville, FL -- The waterbed's history can be traced back to the 1800s. According to various sources, Neil Arnott, a Scottish physician, first conceptualized this therapeutic water bed for invalid patients or those who need to stay in bed for long periods. Eventually, Charles Hall came up with a prototype of a more modern waterbed in 1968 when he was still a design student at San Francisco State University in California. Later on, his nephew Todd Youngblood invented ChiliPad mattress pad, which could be considered an improved version of the Hall waterbed.
According to the New York Times magazine, Hall's handcrafted waterbeds really became popular among those who can afford its purchase and maintenance. He made one for a Smothers Brother, for a Jefferson Airplane member, and another for Hugh Hefner who wanted his upholstered in green velvet. Its maintenance involves a professional to fill the bed with water, set up the frame and the heater, etc. Eventually, the users got tired of using it.
Based on experts' reviews, the water bed is a good concept. Warming the bed actually has therapeutic benefits. It can soothe body pains from various medical conditions, such as herniated discs, and arthritis, to mention a few. However, the disadvantages of keeping one seemed to outweigh the advantages.
Todd Youngblood, Hall's nephew, built up on his concept of the therapeutic waterbed. In 2007, Todd and his wife Tara founded Chili Technology LLC, and came up with ChiliPad cooling and heating mattress pad. ChiliPad mattress pad is made of 150-thread count poly cotton, polyester filling, and soft in-bed silicone tubes. It is easier to set up and use than Hall's waterbed, and definitely more portable.
The water flows from the control unit, and cools or heats depending on the setting of the control unit. When the water heats or cools, the core body temperature of the sleeper is also positively affected. When the user reaches his/her most comfortable body temperature, s/he will be able to achieve a recuperating sleep.
Last 2014, Chili Technology released the newest version of ChiliPad, which is the ChiliPad Cube 1.1, which is reportedly performing better that the earlier versions. From Hall to Youngblood, the vision of providing quality sleep to Americans did not change.
Midwest Health Solutions is an authorized seller of ChiliPad Cube 1.1 that could be purchased on Amazon.
