Stephen West, Co-Founder of Survival and Cross tells what sets the brand apart.
After noticing one soldiers request for healthy related items, Ryan's mother, Karrie, decided to purchas a speed cable jump rope from Survival and Cross through Amazon.com to include in his care package. Once Survival and Cross, who the jump rope was purchased from, heard about Ryan and Karrie's efforts to support American troops, they contacted Karrie directly and offered to send them free products to include in the care packages.
Survival and Cross is a small family owned business located in Suffolk, Virginia. Neighboring cotton fields and cow pastures, they are a growing business that specializes in the fitness industry and are geared towards people who participate in crossfit, boxing, mixed martial arts, and other demanding physical sports. However, knowing the physical demands the military requires, Co-Founders Stephen West and Alex Fanjul knew they could help provide tools to help the troops stay in top shape.
Survival and Cross sent Ryan both speed cable jump ropes and resistance bands ( http://amzn.to/1GnQj30) to help the soldiers in their daily workout routines. They also sent the soldiers suspension trainers, a Survival and Cross product that is still undergoing testing to see if it is an item that should be carried in their Amazon store. In a letter of gratitude, business CEO, Stephen West expressed his personal thanks to the Gillette, Wyoming unit for their service to our country.
"When we first heard about what Ryan was doing, we knew we had to be a part," says Co-Founder, Alex Fanjul. "We've been inspired by Ryan's story and we will use this inspiration to continue to fuel our desire to help other more. Whether it's in the business field, fitness industry, or other military units, we are looking for ways we can help our local community grow."
Survival and Cross has plans to reach out to more military personnel within The Wounded Warriors Project in the near future. They also will stay in contact with Ryan and Karrie and help with packages again next year if the mother and son duo decide to support another unit.
