(Health-NewsWire.Net, May 07, 2015 ) Orlando, FL -- Arthritis symptoms are very difficult and painful to deal with. As a matter of fact, many sufferers become physically inactive and are unable to go to work because of the pain and discomfort they are suffering from. However, there are also those who use methods that are helpful for the alleviation of symptoms.
Science revealed drug-free remedies may be helpful for arthritis patients. It can be quite easy to find home remedies for conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. However, identifying the ones that are effective can be difficult.
"It is important to note that even remedies that are backed with scientific trials don't benefit everyone. However, there are also low-risk therapies that may be effective to reduce inflammation and pain," said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O'Sullivan.
According to The Arthritis Foundation, one of the drug-free remedies that is supported by science is called ice massage. Other remedies that are believed to work for many people are fish consumption, walking, the use of green tea and probiotics.
The American College of Rheumatology suggests that patients should do ice massage for 5 to 19 minutes several times daily. Patients can rub an ice cube in small circles over the painful areas. This can significantly help reduce swelling, slow down pain signals and inhibit inflammatory chemical production.
Omega-3 fatty acids, which may potentially reduce inflammation, can be found in some fish. It is recommended that patients eat fish, such as sardines, tuna, herring and salmon, several times per week. It may not only reduce inflammation, but it also ease pain. Walking for 30 minutes every day is also shown to help reduce pain and stiffness. It can improve flexibility and build up muscles around the joints, as well.
"Many people like drinking green tea because it offers a lot of health benefits. Studies showed that the beverage has epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) which takes care of blocking molecule production that causes joint damage in individuals suffering from rheumatoid arthritis," added O'Sullivan.
Studies also showed that probiotic bacteria, found in foods such as yogurt, is beneficial to RA patients who suffer from pain and disability. It is recommended that patients consume yogurt every day for three months.
There are actually several natural remedies that may help arthritis patients, including curcumin supplements. These supplements have long been used by many arthritis sufferers around the world, and they are believed to help reduce pain and improve mobility (http://amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-BioPerine-Bio-availability/dp/B00JA4TLTI).
