(Health-NewsWire.Net, May 12, 2015 ) Chattanooga, TN -- Yvonne Hitchcock of Santulana knows the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She advocates that this should include aerobic exercise, such as running or cycling, stretching on a Swiss ball or stability ball, time out to wind down and a healthy diet. Including freshly pressed juices in a diet is a wonderful way to rejuvenate mind, body and soul.
The first important step is to get the right equipment. There is much controversy over which juicers are best for nutritional purposes but most juicing fanatics will only use a slow masticating juicer. These juicers slowly press the juice without heating it and therefore there is no enzyme damage. They also produce more juice than their centrifugal counterparts. The centrifugal juicer heats the juice as it is being made, and so kills off valuable, health giving enzymes.
Any change of diet should be done slowly and if there are health problems, such as diabetes, Candida or hyperglycaemia, then a doctor should be consulted before embarking on juicing. Begin with something simple, such as a carrot and apple juice with a touch of ginger. The aim is to progress to juices containing ‘green' foods which are highly beneficial to everyone's health.
Start by added bland greens, such as cucumber, romaine lettuce or celery, to an apple and carrot juice or a fruit juice. Then slowly increase the amount of ‘green' and the different sorts of greens. Kale, cabbage and spinach are excellent sources of many different minerals and vitamins but they are an acquired taste, so take it slowly.
Remember, these juices are foods and should be sipped slowly and not gulped down like a glass of water. Preferably drink them at least thirty minutes before a meal. If they are not going to be drunk immediately, then put them into dark glass bottles and refrigerate them. Juices, especially ‘green' juices are excellent for mind, body and soul.
