Traditionally hair loss was seen as a "male" thing. But unfortunately women suffer from their hair falling out as well. It is worrying for those men and women who have experienced, or who are experiencing a thinning of their hair, and Lexington International has developed a solution to the hair problem. There have, over the past decades, been various approaches to dealing with the hair loss problem and the most common was the Wig or Toupee. But to actually get to grips with the problem and find a solution has not been that easy.
Some approaches involve intercepting the biochemical pathways of our physiology in an attempt to nullify the factors causing the hair to fall out. Some of these supplements have shown some promise, whereas others, however, have motivated the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) to issue cautionary warnings about their possible side effects.
With the current increase in our awareness of using more natural methods to help manage our health and treat ourselves, the physical means of managing hair loss have been given more credence. By this it is meant "preventing hair loss in your daily routine" by modifying life style, reducing stress, improving diet (various foods have been found to be of benefit to keeping our 'hair on') and how the hair is styled and the products used for this styling (Hair dryers, Flat Irons, Dyes, etc).
In tandem with this trend for people to look for more natural solutions to their hair loss problem, has been the development of low level laser therapy to help keep the hair on. This approach has been dignified by the official title of Phototherapy.
There was one group that took the initiative over twenty years ago, and devoted research resources to investigating the laser and how it could be used to counter hair loss. This group founded Lexington International in 2000. So for 15 years Phototherapeutic Medical Devices have been worked on and improved and have been proven to assist in the stopping of hair loss and promoting the regrowth of hair. Lexington has developed the brand HairMAx which produces these devices and continues to research hair loss remedies.
The devices are called Laser Comb solutions - this is basically a comb that has lasers incorporated into it - so as the hair is combed in a slow, deliberate fashion the lasers do their work on the scalp. There are three models of HairMax Laser Comb solutions available with varying strengths of laser. The HairMax hair regrowth treatment system also produces complementary products such as specialized vitamin supplements, hair shampoos and conditioners.
The Laser Combs have been given FDA approval, after Lexington supplied the FDA with the results of a series of peer reviewed scientific research projects into the use of laser for hair restoration.
The laser is thought to achieve two positive outcomes that promote hair growth:
1) The first is that it "kick starts" lazy Mitochondria; Not sure what Mitochondria are? Join the club! Mitochondria are the energy generators for our cells. They enable our cells to do whatever the cells are designed to do. So in this instance the Mitochondria are part of the cells of a hair follicle that makes hair.
2) The second thing the laser does is dilate the small blood vessels in the scalp and so increase the blood supply to these hair follicles.
There are of course other things the laser might do, but the two impacts mentioned above are the significant ones. One advantage of using low level laser, and the reason HairMax is successful, is that it is a physical, non-invasive technique: It assists the body to undertake a particular function, rather than 'Taking over'. In this way the supplements, and the hair products associated with the HairMax Hair Loss Laser Treatment method, can bolster or support the effects produced by the LaserComb treatment.
Lexington International's continuing research and development into this laser technology over the past 15 years, which has come under the umbrella of Phototherapeutic Medical Devices, has seen the successful development of the HairMax LaserCombs brand. Lexington has received FDA approval because the company has clinically proven that its' laser devices can safely make hair grow. The non-invasive nature of these Laser Combs and their effectiveness in providing a solution for the problem of hair loss has resulted in a "pat on the back" from consumers
