(Health-NewsWire.Net, May 20, 2015 ) Orlando, FL -- An increasing number of people are changing their diets and preferring healthier food and beverage items. Consumption of nutritious foods is proven to be beneficial to overall health. Foods, such as those with fiber, are known to offer many therapeutic benefits.
Studies suggest that fiber intake can potentially reduce inflammation. Researchers believe that it has the potential to reduce CRP, or C-reactive protein, which is the inflammation indicator found in the blood.
"A high CRP level triggers inflammation, and it could indicate the presence of infection, from heart disease to rheumatoid arthritis," said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O'Sullivan.
Dana E. King, M.D., professor of family medicine at the medical University of South Carolina, believes that, albeit we cannot say eating high-fiber vegetables, fruits and other food items can specifically help in arthritis, it is fair to believe that doing so can reduce CRP. Patients can consume fiber by eating certain foods or taking supplements.
In a study led by Dr. King, it was found that individuals who ate between 27 and 28g fiber per day, or who were on a high-fiber diet, experienced a decrease in their CRP levels. One group consumed high fiber foods while the other took a supplement. Although both groups experienced a drop in their CRP levels, there were more dramatic effects in thinner individuals. However, previous research revealed that it is more beneficial to overweight individuals.
According to Dr. King, thinner individuals experienced a decrease by 40 percent and overweight people by 10 percent, although the reason is not yet known. He also added that it has not been established yet how much fiber should be eaten to reduce CRP.
The scientists at Germany's Federal Research Center for Nutrition have stated that men who ate more vegetables and fruits with fiber experienced a reduction in CRP levels by one-third. According to researchers, the drop could be due to the consumption of carotenoids, which are special antioxidants that provide some foods, such as peppers and carrots, their color.
Fruits and vegetables, as well as supplements that can potentially reduce inflammation, are very helpful among arthritis patients. Anti-inflammatory products such as medicines and supplements have helped thousands of sufferers achieve pain relief.
There are many anti-inflammatory herbal supplements nowadays, and the most popular one is called curcumin. Curcumin is an active ingredient of a spice called turmeric and is popularized by its anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant properties (www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-BioPerine-Bio-availability/dp/B00JA4TLTI).
