(Health-NewsWire.Net, May 20, 2015 ) Orlando, FL -- Chronic pain is perceived by many arthritis patients as an entirely different condition. It sticks around and makes it challenging for patients to engage in daily activities. However, it seems that there is a better way to deal with the pain.
Experts revealed there is hope of finding relief from chronic pain. Many people believe that there is an underlying cause that should be treated in order to eliminate pain. This theory suggests that controlling rheumatoid arthritis (or RA) will allow patients to control their condition. It also suggests that the damaged joint causing the osteoarthritis patient's suffering should be eliminated to get rid of pain.
"Measures mentioned above often work. There were many patients who took disease-modifying drugs or had their joints replaced, and have eliminated or reduced their pain as well as regained the quality of their life, said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O'Sullivan.
However, the truth is that there are also many patients with artificial joints or well-controlled RA whose pain still lingers. Since it has not been established yet exactly why they still experience pain, finding an effective treatment is often perceived to be elusive.
David Borenstein, M.D., George Washington University Medical Center's clinical professor of medicine, believes that it can be extremely challenging for health care providers to help patients with chronic pain. If it is acute pain from a broken bone, it can easily be remedied. However, if the pain has been going on for five years and not one treatment helped, there is a chance that the pain has already been ingrained in the patient's physiology and psyche.
"According to experts, there is a chance that the initial starting point of pain comes from the various body parts of the sufferers," added O'Sullivan.
Afton L. Hasset, University of Michigan Medical School's associate research scientist at the Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center, stated that it is possible chronic pain has turned independent and become its own disease. Those who suffer from RA inflammation and pain for long periods may have the pain message continuously transmitted to the brain.
Pain is one of the most undesirable consequences of having arthritis. This is why many arthritis sufferers are resorting to a wide variety of treatment options, such as drugs, just to achieve pain relief. There are also individuals who use natural alternatives such as glucosamine supplements. These supplements have long been believed to provide pain relief and improved mobility in arthritis patients (http://amazon.com/Glucosamine-Sulfate-Chondroitin-Supplement-Turmeric/dp/B00DUMO9X4/).
