The Mexican Gourmet is in the PoCo Place Mall next to Michael's, and on weekdays it is open from 11 AM to 8 PM. On weekends starting on Friday, the closing time is extended until 9 PM.
"Among the favorites in the current soup menu are the Mexican classic Sopa de Tortilla which is a tomato-based soup, the grilled chicken and feta salad, and the crispy tortilla and feta salad," said Mr. Galindo, "the house specialties are quesadillas, enchiladas, tostadas, Baja fish tacos and regular tacos, Taquitos Dorados, the torta sandwich, and the artisan burrito wrap. Special beverages include the spiced Mexican coffee known as Café de Olla, hibiscus iced tea, fresh limeade, Mexican sodas, and the Mexican hot chocolate. For dessert, there's homemade Mexican flan, churros, and local fruit frozen bars."
For children, specials include the kid's versions of quesadillas made with white corn tortillas and cheese. "Our tacos or tostadas come with salsa, lettuce, and a choice of meat," added Vancouver Mexican restaurant owner Mr. Galindo, "the mini enchiladas have a choice of meat in soft-rolled corn tortillas, topped with Salsa Roja, melted cheese, and sour cream. All the meals come with red rice, a salad, an apple juice, and a special kid's treat."
Port Coquitlam Mexican restaurant he Mexican Gourmet also offers Mexican food for catering services. The meat options are Cochinita Pibil (Yucatán Style Mexican Pulled Pork), Beef Tinga (which is braised beef, sauté onions & mild red sauce), Mexican Ground Beef (marinated in flavorful spices & mild red sauce), Chicken Adobo (marinated grilled chicken, caramelized onions & corn), and Chicken in Mole (traditional Mexican rich and flavorful sauce).
