(Health-NewsWire.Net, June 08, 2015 ) Orlando, FL -- Rheumatoid arthritis causes pain and suffering for patients. There are many people around the world who suffer from physical limitations, unemployment and financial embarrassment due to the condition. However, it seems that there is good news associated with the condition.
Studies revealed that early detection could potentially stop the development of rheumatoid arthritis. Before symptoms become visible, the disease can be detected. This can significantly help healthcare providers and experts stop its development even before its symptoms become visible.
The American College of Rheumatology Annual Scientific Meeting presented two studies that involved the early detection and treatment of the condition. In one study, it used a criteria that made it possible to detect the signs of rheumatoid arthritis before it is diagnosed.
Jason R. Kolfenbach, M.D., assistant professor at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine and the lead author of the study, stated that if their goal as health professionals is to achieve lifelong, drug-free relief, then it can be important to provide treatment very early in the process before the patient visits the clinic.
In another study, it showed that both newly diagnosed RA patients and individuals who are highly susceptible to having the condition but have not yet been diagnosed, may potentially be able to achieve remission. This means that they do not have disease activity if they receive methotrexate and prednisone for about four months.
According to the associate professor of rheumatology at Leiden University Medical Center, Cornelia Allaart, M.D.,PhD, the idea is that patients who experience limited symptoms in the earliest phase of the disease have the best chance to get a permanent remission. This can happen after treatment with the use of a progressive combination of anti-rheumatic drugs.
For many individuals, this is good news considering that many people are actually trying their very best to reduce their risk for the condition. Pain and discomfort are often the main consequences of having RA and if it is stopped, people will be saved from the undesirable results of having the disease. Although many people are suffering from the condition, there are also those that have been able to live normally with the use of certain treatments.
In addition to NSAIDs and other pain relief drugs, many arthritis sufferers also use natural alternatives such as glucosamine supplements. Glucosamine is believed to be effective in not just providing pain relief, but also improving the mobility of patients (www.amazon.com/Glucosamine-Sulfate-Chondroitin-Supplement-Turmeric/dp/B00DUMO9X4/).
