(Health-NewsWire.Net, June 10, 2015 ) Mukilteo, WA -- Kids Dentistry, a leading Mukilteo pediatric dentistry office, recently announced that they are offering their preventive pediatric services for families in Lynwood. In preventive pediatric dentistry, the dentist focuses on services that prevent problems such as cavities. The orthodontist may also begin initial orthodontic evaluation.
"At Kids Dentistry, we help parents in Lynwood educate their children to establish good dental habits such as regularly brushing their teeth and avoiding sticky foods and sugary drinks," says Dr. Sonu Lamba of Everett pediatric dental office Kids Dentistry, who did her General Practice Residency at Harvard. "We also sometimes recommend dental sealants and fluoride treatments to help the children keep their teeth from cavities."
Lynwood child's dentist Kid Dentistry also uses X-rays to obtain more accurate information about the state of the child's teeth. "We usually take X-rays after the initial dental exam and after reviewing the child's dental and medical history," explains Dr. Lamba. "X-rays give more information than a simple visual examination, and children typically need more frequent X-rays than adults because their mouth, teeth, and gums undergo rapid changes as they grow older."
According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, it is recommended that children who have a higher risk of tooth decay should get X-ray exams every six months. "X-rays should also be taken even if the child has never had cavities, because there are other important issues," adds Mukilteo kid's dentist Dr. Lamba. "The X-rays let us inspect erupting teeth, diagnose bone disease, evaluate a child's dental health after an illness or injury, and even plan for how an orthodontist can help later on."
According to the American Association of Orthodontists, a child should get an initial orthodontic evaluation either by the time they are seven years old, or if there are signs of orthodontic problems. Interceptive orthodontic treatments may begin when they're needed. "It's important for a pediatric dentist to assess the child's bite and arrangement of the teeth," explains Dr. Lamba. "With interceptive orthodontic treatments, more serious problems can be averted or minimized in the future."
According to Dr. Lamba, these interceptive treatments offer a lot of benefits for children in Lynwood. "They can create some space for crowded erupted teeth, and reserve some room for the teeth that haven't erupted yet," asserts Dr. Lamba. "These treatments reduce the chances of trauma to the teeth and the need for tooth removal, and they also shorten the treatment time for future orthodontic treatments."
"In the future when the child wears braces, the treatment time may be shaved by a few months," concludes Dr. Lamba. For further information, contact Kids Dentistry.
