WHAT: The Houston VA Medical Center and the Houston Regional Benefits Office are co-hosting a town hall meeting for Veterans and family members to provide feedback on their VA experiences. The meeting is part of a nationwide outreach effort to listen and learn directly from Veterans who use the VA system. Prior to the meeting the Houston Benefits Office will hold a special claims clinic to assist area Veterans. Media are welcome to attend the town hall event.

The Town Hall is one of many every VA Medical Center and Benefits office in the country now host quarterly. The meetings are intended to provide local Veterans and their families a wide-open forum and for VA officials to hear directly from Veterans about the service and assistance they receive from the VA. The Director of the Houston VA Medical Center and the Director of the VA Regional Benefits Office will be on hand to answer questions and address the Veterans.
The Claims Clinic is an event where a Veteran can file a claim for compensation, submit evidence, receive a VA exam and speak with someone about the status of a pending claim.
The Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center is one of the largest VA Medical Centers in the country; serving more than 103,000 Veterans in southeast Texas annually. Last year more than 1.2 million outpatient visits occurred at the Houston VA Medical Center or one of its nine outpatient clinics. The Houston Regional Benefits Office administers a variety of services and benefits including compensation and pension, home loan guarantee and vocational Rehabilitation. The Houston Regional office serves a population of more than 750,000 Veterans in 90 counties of southern Texas.
