(Health-NewsWire.Net, June 15, 2015 ) Philadelphia, PA -- According to 6 ABC News, several Pennsylvania lawmakers gathered at Temple University, in Philadelphia to discuss the powdered alcohol product "Palcohol" being sold in the state. Powdered alcohol has yet to be legalized for sale in the state of Pennsylvania and lawmakers are working hard to assure that the product does not hit store shelves.
Currently, Pennsylvania and other states are fighting to keep the powdered alcohol product out of the stores in their state. However, states such as Arizona have legalized the distribution of the powdered alcohol product.
Being as though the product has yet to be approved for sale in Pennsylvania, lawmakers are working hard to ensure that the product does not get approved.
State Senator Lisa Boscola commented "The last thing we need is powdered alcohol. You're talking about a powdered substance that you can put into a packet and just dump into some water and maybe not even dump into water. I can envision people getting packets of this powdered alcohol and just throwing it down their throats and that's what we're concerned about."
A medical associate from Drug Rehab Philadelphia comments "Powdered alcohol could impose a great risk and danger to our state. With the substance now being powdered it would make it easier for individuals to sneak alcohol unknowingly into another person's drink. It could also make it easier for underage drinkers to have easier access to alcohol. And lastly, my main concern is that consumers of this product will not be aware of how much alcohol they are actually consuming which could potentially lead to someone becoming unintentionally drunk. I am sure the creators of Palcohol had good intentions but I believe that selling this product will do more harm for our nation than good. I support the Pennsylvania lawmakers who are working hard to ensure that Palcohol does not hit the shelves in Pennsylvania.
