(Health-NewsWire.Net, June 18, 2015 ) San Francisco, CA -- Barry Lavis has been certified as a coach and a trainer. He has years of experience coaching elite athletes including Olympic weightlifters. He knows the importance of stretches before and after training. In his YouTube video, he demonstrates the proper way of stretching the shoulders using a WOD Nation resistance band.
Shoulder stretches can benefit not only athletes, but anyone who wants to relieve stress from sitting on the desk for hours, those who suffer pain because of bad posture, and anybody who wants to keep their shoulder muscles healthy.
Lavis says that he likes to prepare athletes with dynamic shoulder movements using WOD Nation resistance bands before they do snatches, pull-ups, muscle-ups, strict press, push-ups, and burpees. These exercises use a lot of the shoulder muscles which need to be loosened up in order to prevent injuries.
Stretching the shoulders with fitness band is a mobility rather than a strength exercise. There is no need for a heavy band and Lavis uses a thin WOD Nation band with a low resistance level. WOD Nation resistance bands are color-coded according to resistance levels and the red one used in the video has a resistance level of 10-35 pounds. It has the lightest resistance and the blue one has the heaviest with 65-175 pounds. These color-coded bands can be also be used in combination to suit one's requirements.
Shoulder stretches do not take too much time. In his video, Lavis performs only four types of stretches: overhead, front, back, and pass through with only 15 reps per exercise. The stretches do not require too much energy, either. One can still have plenty energy for the workout that comes after the stretches. Most importantly, they do not put undue stress on the rotator cuff which is a major site for injuries. The rotator cuff is a stabilizer that allows the arms and body to work together. If it is injured, mobility is greatly affected.
As demonstrated in his video, Lavis shows how shoulder warm-ups can be quickly and easily done with the WOD Nation resistance band. Athletes and those who want to avoid shoulder pain and injury can benefit from these easy and simple stretches. And because a WOD Nation band is light and portable, these stretches can be done at home, the gym, the office, or anywhere one travels.
