Based on the evidence which has been seized by police around Florida, the use of flakka is sharply increasing. According to Florida Department of Law Enforcement's crime labs, an increase in submissions for testing flakka rose from 38 submissions in 2013 to 244 in 2015. Broward Sheriff's Office laboratory also seen an increase in submissions growing from 200 in 2014 to 275 in just the first three months of 2015 according to spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion.
Police officers are currently battling with trying to keep the drug off the streets, according to Maines, of the Broward Sheriff's Office one of the main challenges is that flakka manufacturers make slight changes to the chemical makeup of flakka, tampering with efforts to adequately test for the drug.
