(Health-NewsWire.Net, August 26, 2015 ) Miami, FL -- According to Miami Sun Times, a South Florida mother has been arrested at a Deerfield Beach hotel this past weekend on claims that she was smoking marijuana in the room while her infant 10-month-old daughter was present and storing other drugs in the baby's formula container. When officials arrived to Burnell's hotel room, Broward County Sheriff's Office detective found a container marked as "Enfamil", a popular baby formula brand, and the substance found in the container tested positive for crack cocaine and heroin.
It has been reported that Tamisha Burnell, 21, of Coconut Creek, has been charged with both child neglect and drug possession as a result of her arrest. An arrest report also indicated that Erik Sanchez, 21, of Boca Raton, was also present in the hotel room at the time of Burnell's arrest. Sanchez was also arrested and charged with drug possession and probation violation charges. According to reports, Sanchez was in possession of oxycodone, heroin, cannabis, and drug paraphernalia. It has also been reported that both Burnell and Sanchez may also face charges of illegal drug trafficking, according to police records.
The infant child was removed from the room and has since been placed in protective services and the seized items are to be tested at a Broward County Crime Lab. according to police reports.
An associate from Miami Drug Rehab comments "It's very disheartening that there are children in today's society who have to be subjected to their parents drug and alcohol use. I'm not sure why a mother would ever think it's ok to smoke in front of her children, especially an infant child. I can only imagine the other horrors this poor 10-month-old child has witnessed before her other was arrested. It's very sad how drug just cause people to lose their minds and not only put themselves in danger, but those around them as well. I hope this will be a wake up call for parents, don't do drugs, and if you decide to still do them, do not consume them in front of your children."
