(Health-NewsWire.Net, August 30, 2015 ) Calgary, AB -- Royal Oak Endodontics, an acknowledged leader in endodontic services in Alberta, has announced the introduction of their root canal services for their patients in Calgary. Their mission is to provide root canal treatments that are painless and leave patients feeling comfortable.
"A root canal becomes necessary when the pulp of the patient's tooth has become inflamed or contaminated," explains Alberta endodontist, Dr. Eduardo Ghaname of Royal Oak Endodontics, who lectures on Endodontics to at the University of Michigan Dental School. "Here at Royal Oak Endodontics, we make sure that our Calgary patients don't unnecessarily experience any pain during this nonsurgical procedure."
In the root canal procedure, the inflamed pulp is eliminated. The dentist then cleans and decontaminates the inside of the tooth, which is then filled and sealed. The result is a tooth that functions normally and, with appropriate care, the results can last for a lifetime.
Some complications may also occur with root canal treatments, and many of the patients come to Royal Oak Endodontics after they've received root canal therapy from somewhere else. In some cases, the root canal wasn't performed meticulously enough, and in other cases there are underlying causes that results in infections.
"In some cases, the tooth doesn't recover fully after the root canal treatment, and eventually the tooth becomes infected again," reveals North West Calgary root canal provider, Dr. Ghaname. "For these situations, we offer retreatment services for our Calgary patients in which we open the tooth again and we do the same root canal treatment that the patient should receive."
In other cases, even retreatment doesn't work because some contaminated particles may have permanently placed themselves inside the tiny branches off the primary canal. These contaminated particles cause the infection that comes up even after the root canal therapy.
"In these cases, these contaminated particles have to be removed so that the infection doesn't flare up again, and that calls for a root canal treatment called an apicoectomy," reveals Calgary root canal dentist, Dr. Ghaname. "In this procedure, we remove the apex of the tooth to make sure that we've removed all the contaminated particles causing the infection. Once we're done, then there will be no more need to open up the tooth again to treat an inflammation or an infection."
At Royal Oak Endodontics, these root canal treatments are explained clearly and patients experience the most comfort and the least amount of pain.
