The final weight has also been reduced as part of the update.
"In order to further reduce the chance for light to seep past any edges we increased the size of the mask slightly," says PrimeEffects CEO, Philip Jepsen. "Doing this, plus increasing the contouring, achieved the results we were after. The interesting thing is that we actually brought the weight of the mask down slightly as well. So, it's bigger and lighter."
Improvements to the mask material, as well as a new, improved adjustable head strap have combined to reduce the overall weight. The updated mask placed more emphasis on contouring along the ridges and curves of the face, in particular across the bridge of the nose and around the cheeks and eyes. Increasing the overall size of the mask slightly has resulted in a greater reduction of light entering the edges of the mask around the face.
"I feel comfortable saying it blocks all light," says Mr. Jepsen. "Of course there are never absolutes, but this new design reduces the background lighting to such a degree, it comes as close as you can to achieving total darkness, even when in bright environments."
Updates to the Amazing Sleep Mask also include a new strap, which uses a slider rather than Velcro, allowing smoother adjustment of the mask to fit head sizes from small child to double-XL adult. It is now available on Amazon, and is on sale for a limited time.
