(Health-NewsWire.Net, September 08, 2015 ) Scottsdale , Arizona -- The "newish" must try cocktail, The Moscow Mule is trending in bars throughout Chicago and the Midwest. The drink is served in a shiny copper mug and bars are ordering copper mugs by the hundreds to serve up the drink.
Moscow Mules are popular for their simplicity, flavor, and their Copper Mugs. "People are getting into the classic cocktails. Vodka is popular, and this mix makes it even more enticing to larger audiences," says David Willhite, Mixologist at the Bristol. The copper mug is an added bonus.
In the past couple of years the revival of the Moscow Mules has been strong. The recipe is very simple and uses high-quality vodka, ginger beer, lime juice and a copper mug. Ginger beer is popular now and vodka has always been the choice of drink for casual bar-goers.
Folklore claims that the Moscow Mule came about when a vodka salesman and a ginger beer vendor were commiserating about the lack of sales. As they sat drinking, they added ginger beer to vodka, threw in a shot of lime, added ice and the Moscow Mule was born. To make the drink even better, they called on a friend who had a substantial number of copper mugs that were sitting in a box. They bought up the lot of mugs, poured the drink in the copper mug, and started a very nice marketing campaign.
The Mule was popular during the 1950s and 60s, but fell off bar menus during the Cold War. Now, in the 2000s, bartenders in neighborhood bars can't keep mixing enough of the drink. Patrons insist that their Moscow Mule be mixed in a copper mug. Which means these same bartenders are experiencing a run on their copper mugs. The mugs seem to fly out the door. Whether or not patrons are taking the mugs home to make their own concoctions or just to use on the mantle is a mystery.
The copper mug is the only way to drink the copper mule. It almost seems obscene to use a regular bar glass for this mixed cocktail. Bars managers are quickly learning how to keep the mugs from disappearing and the Moscow Mule running.

About Copper Mules
Being huge fans of the Moscow Mule, the Dalton's were getting tired of drinking them from mugs that were nickel-lined, not 100% copper or had been lacquered both inside and out which defeated the purpose of using them.
They decided to get back to the 'roots' of the classic cocktail and make Moscow Mule mugs the way they were meant to be... Solid, sturdy and with exposed copper on the inside of the mug to enhance the experience.
Copper Mules is owned by the Dalton family and is located on the outskirts of Scottsdale, Arizona. The Dalton's are dedicated to bringing the true experience of the Moscow Mule back to the consumer.
