As if the existing literature purporting the efficacy of lavender oil is not enough, researchers Kasper and colleagues have yet again come up with very compelling results in support of lavender oil.
The study is the first randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind trial to actually document the effects of the lavender essential oil to patients who have anxiety disorder. 221 consenting adults who certified to have unspecified anxiety were selected to receive, on a daily basis, 80 mg of either placebo or pure essential lavender oil, one that is almost identical to trusted commercial products like Regal Earth Lavender Oil. The oil is administered orally for 10 weeks, each participant required to visit Kasper and his colleagues every once in two weeks.
"Aromatherapy using lavender oil is effective in managing depression and anxiety," writes Kasper and colleagues after concluding the 10-week study. It was also found out that about 20-80 mg of Regal Earth Lavender Essential Oil or similar filler-free and undiluted products is the most robust dosage for such treatment. No participant also exhibited any form of adverse negative reaction as result of using the extract.
This study, along with the other ones made in the past, also validates that oral supplementation of pure and high-quality lavender essential oil can demonstrate efficacy in treating anxiety comparable, or even superior to Kava and Benzodiazepines, and with no listed side effect at all. Lavender oil can significantly improve one's quality of sleep, and influence positive mental health, sans the unwanted sedating effects of laboratory-produced drugs.
