(Health-NewsWire.Net, September 18, 2015 ) Chicago, Illinois -- Stomper Joe would like to remind everybody that foot care is an important health issue all year round and not just during the hotter summer months.
Many people tend to neglect their feet once the cooler weather descends and people start wearing closed shoes once again. However, New York City podiatrists conclude that Fall and Winter season has the most serious and painful foot problems reported as the transition from flip flops to closed shoes are evident. The colder weather is also a contributing factor to foot pain.
It is best to address foot problems early on this season. Contrary to common belief, kids are also affected by foot problems this fall as much as adults are. Fall is the perfect season for sports and kids easily contract athlete's foot during this time. It is advised that both kids and adults take proper care of their feet by keeping toenails short and washing regularly, taking extra care to dry thoroughly.
Health advise for women: wearing narrow-fitting shoes can cause bad foot odor due to excessive sweating. Podiatrists advise women to wear no show socks for any closed shoes such as heels and ballet flats. No show socks are made with cotton fibers that are breathable but still thin enough to be comfortable when worn. Working women are also encouraged to bring extra shoes so as to avoid wearing of closed shoes throughout the day. The feet need to be aired out few times a day to make sure they are kept dry at all times. When feet are wet due to sweat, fungi can grow and cause undesirable effects such as smelly feet, itching, foot sores, etc.
Health advise for men: who by nature, sweat more than women, need to wear the same no show socks with shoes like brogues, loafers or even canvas shoes. No show socks are good sweat absorbent and will keep feet and shoes dry all the time. Men are also advised to wash feet at night before going to bed. There are foot powders available that can help men reduce sweating.
Kids are also advised to use proper footwear to protect feet from possible foot problems during fall. There are also no show socks for kids. In fact, a good no show sock comes in different sizes. Don't choose no show socks that come in one size fits all sizing. Most of the time, socks easily fall off the foot if the sizing is wrong.
Stomper Joe also reminds everybody to consult a podiatrist should they have continual foot pain.
