(Health-NewsWire.Net, September 25, 2015 ) Philadelphia Pa. -- The Philadelphia Eagles start the 2015 NFL season 0-2. The Eagles have dropped games to the Atlanta Falcons and division enemies the Dallas Cowboys. The performance of Philadelphia Eagles is as if they have the flu, the Bird Flu.
This mental flu has spread through the offense with a failure to score in the red zone; failure to stop the opposing teams from scoring on defense; and the inability to hold onto the ball thereby stopping the turnovers with minimal confidence in the new Quarterback. Todd Stofka of Philly Hypnosis Football Performance says, "The Philadelphia Eagles have the mental bird flu."
Being a quarterback should be fun, exciting and the results good. However, when the quarterback has a slump, they become anxious about getting under center and disappointing the crowd, the fans, teammates and themselves. It weighs heavily on their mind causing a holding back from being aggressive and causing more interceptions and fumbles. When this happens, the quarterback is no longer the leader of the team.
There is an old proverb: "Anxiety in the heart of a football player (man) will leave him depressed." Depressed and anxious players rarely spark themselves and teammates to rise up.
Secret 1: Create a new goal of confidence and of "slicing the enemy (the other team)." Rewire the quarterbacks' thoughts about how they feel in the locker room, on the sidelines, and on the field, while leading the team.
There is another old proverb: "The fear of a football player (man) brings a snare or trap." A football team that has any trepidation of an opponent will not be playing with confidence. The fearful "what ifs" take over. What if I drop the ball? What if I fumble? What if I let them score? What if I lose my position, get cut or injured? What if we lose and, on and on? They doubted their consistency and their ability to play winning ball again. These mental blocks were as contagious as the flu, which was spread to the rest of the team.
Secret 2: The players on this team have to turn around this proverb and make the team feared. They must stop the negative thinking and redesign a team that can play together starting by rewiring each player's mental game to play bigger and better and adding it to the other 10 players on the field. Create a "computer like" focus on hitting hard, being accurate and having fun as a winning unit.
A most effective technique for making a winning season is the use of hypnotherapy in Sports Performance Psychology as an example of an out-of-the-box tactic in a smart coach's program. But it's not an entirely uncommon practice. Tiger Woods' use of hypnosis since childhood has been well-documented. Legendary NBA coach Phil Jackson did not get the name the "Zen Master" purely because it was catchy.
