The mask is a fully functional breathing barrier. It features a one-way breathing valve to control the flow of air from rescue breather to victim, and eliminate any backwash. A semi-transparent barrier prevents contact with the victim, and allows monitoring of victim color and change. Folded for stowing the mask fits in a small nylon pouch that is about the size of a standard key fob. An attached key ring allows the pouch to be hooked to a set of keys.
