(Health-NewsWire.Net, December 17, 2015 ) Buffalo, New York -- In October 2015, LaVooom was started by J. Tim Vanini, Ph. D. from Buffalo, NY. The company is designed to aid people to connect with their passions and manifest their self-expression into the world. Lavoom's motto is, 'Passion in life is going within and going.' He has always been passionate about life and sports.
Tim Vanini was born and raised in Buffalo, NY where he excelled in multiple sports including soccer, ice hockey and lacrosse. After playing on multiple championship ice hockey teams, he attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where earned his Bachelors of Science, and played all four years for the Big Red. At the time, he set a school record for most consecutive games played in a career at 119 games. He also garnered E.C.A.C. and Ivy League honors as well as recognized for numerous team awards in his four years.
After graduation, he attended Michigan State University where he earned his Masters of Science (M.S.) in turfgrass science in 1995. He was a co-inventor of a U.S. patent (#5,622,002) for a "Method for reducing abrasion of turfgrass on activity fields". The abrasion was lessened by using a product called crumb rubber. Recycled car tires were chopped up into a sand-sized particle called crumb rubber. This crumb rubber was then topdressed to the turfgrass/soil community. The crumb rubber nestled down around the stem of the plant and protected it from compaction and wear in high traffic areas. Also, he was a member of the construction and grounds crew who installed the first portable indoor natural grass soccer field for the 1993 Mens U.S. Cup and 1994 Mens World Cup at the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, MI (This used to be the home field for the NFL Detroit Lions who have since moved to Ford Field in the city of Detroit.).
After earning his M.S., Tim returned to hockey and coached form 1995 - 2001 at Nichols Prep School (Buffalo, NY), Hamilton College (Clinton, NY) and SUNY Cortland (Cortland NY). As an assistant coach at Hamilton College, his primary duties included recruiting student-athletes, coaching the defensemen and formalizing team strategy. While at Hamilton, the team set a school record for most wins in a season with 19 wins. The following year, he moved onto SUNY Cortland where he was named the head coach of the Red Dragons from 1997 - 2001. He re-energized the ice hockey program and in his fourth year, they made the playoffs for the first time in 12 years. He was also named 2001 SUNYAC Coach of the Year as chosen by his peers.
Soon after, Tim returned back to Michigan State University to earn his doctorate in turfgrass science with a specialization in sports field construction and management. His dissertation provided an improved strategy for athletic directors and groundsman to re-establish their sports fields in 70 days or less.
In 2005, Dr. Vanini returned back to Buffalo to teach and coach at his alma mater, Nichols Prep School, and launched his business, New Dimensions Turf (NDTurf). Currently, NDTurf is a lawn care company serving the Buffalo region. In 2011, Dr. Vanini was the designer and project manager for the Buffalo Bills practice field. He currently consults with the team on the best management practices for their fields.
